The Most Controversial Border Crossing Of Canada
There it is: the gateway to Canada.
Anyone with a bit of money can make it to The Roxham Road illegal [or, as per the Canadian code –and not the media– irregular) Border Crossing to seek asylum in Canada.

“Under the Agreement, refugee claimants are required to request refugee protection in the first safe country they arrive in, unless they qualify for an exception to the Agreement".
And that’s why this new “illegal” port-of-entry exist: if the migrants would choose to use the legal port of entry to come into Canada, they would be turned back. The USA is technically required to help them first.
That’s why they seek refuge to Canada by entering illegally: It’s a beautiful loophole, but it works. They are arrested the moment they put a foot in Canada. They are not prosecuted: Canada cannot prosecute anyone on the planet seeking refuge in it.
They come from far away: Ghana, Brazil, Colombia, Niger, and have found a way or another to get into the US in the first place. The US immigration is merciless, which is why they seek peace into beautiful Canada.
We have the best country on the planet. It’s a fact. For the ones that are worried that Canada is running out of space or work: fear not. Canada is the second-largest country on Earth and most of it is pristine, virgin ground. One only has to drive from Halifax to Tuktoyaktuk to realize just how big and how. empty our country truly is. I did it a dozen of times: I can confirm… 98% of Canada is open to business, and development.
And so many migrants start their journey to Canada using Plattsburgh, NY, as their main stepping stone. They pay $60-$90USD for a taxi to drop them 10 meters off the Canadian border.
They are warned by RCMP officers about the fact that they will be arrested if they proceed to walk to Canada. The moment they set foot, they are arrested. They go through a building, closed to journalism, where a basic search and investigation is done. A throughout search is done at Saint-Bernard de Lacolle border, 5 kilometres away.
