I get it. You haven’t seen your wife for 28 days. You work day and night to make your country a better place…And you just want to go to your cottage!
Well, that’s what he did. Justin Trudeau left Ottawa for his cottage in Quebec –despite the lockdown, despite him looking at us for weeks and saying on repeat “stay home, DO NOT GO TO YOUR COTTAGE”, despite him putting cops between the QC/Ontario border to stop traffic from reaching their second house or see their family.
How did he think it was going to be a good idea? This health minister in Scotland resigned over the same deal! She totally owned her mistake. (She probably read Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink). This, below, is a woman with dignity. She called bullshit on herself not respecting the lockdown (twice) and walked-away. Not going to lie, that’s solid.

And so back to us.
On Thursday, April 9th, before Easter long weekend, he stood in front of the Rideau Hall in Ottawa and told us: “This weekend is going to be very different. You’ll have to stay home. You’ll have to Skype that big family dinner and the Easter egg hunt,”
He followed with: “During the long weekend, we will all have to stay home. We cannot have gatherings for dinner and we’ll have to be creative to organize an Easter egg hunt inside the house.”
In a typical Trudeau way, he turned around and did something different! Colour me surprised.
He drove to his cottage in Quebec to visit his family (I’ll remind the reader that the rest of the country was forced to stay home)
Now, part of me feel for the guy: He didn’t see his family for a while. He stayed isolated. He works for the good of the nation. We got to give the guy a bit of slack. But if he can have some slack… then the rest of us too!
For those excusing him… you have to be made aware that many men in Canada work 30+ days straight to provide food on the table and help Canadians to stay warm in the winter (mining and oilpatch industry). There are other men and women out there that actually would love to see their partner in another province but they can’t since they have two residencies. Think about the Canadian Forces members.
Trudeau isn’t the only man in Canada working hard away from his family! Many do! Many are stuck at mine camp or in their second house. They can’t visit their family in New Brunswick or Ontario or Quebec because of the lockdown.
Yet, Justin went ahead. Fuck it.
The stay at home message is turning as a joke.
He diluted his message… His leadership has been undermined severely this weekend.
Now the message is: yeah, screw the lockdown, do whatever you want.
People are getting outraged on Instagram! Over 5000 comments on Sophie’s Gregoire post.
Today’s press conference is going to be interesting. Some fine Canadian drama. Trudeau has for a long time fooled Canadians… Maybe we remember all of this in the next election.
