Bush bought 300 000 acres of land in Paraguay back in 2005. The normal explication used to be cause he wanted to sell water, or have a hideaway with a lot of fresh water. I never thought it made sense.

Why does the US government sent 500 marines (or soldiers) to Paraguay in 2006? Why is there a US military base in Mariscal Estigarribia, Paraguay? Why is this base able to accomodate up to 16 000 soldiers?

Who cares. I doubt that we would ever know why. Just like the war for the Falkland Island. Makes no sense.

Just like the war fought on Deception Island.

Or just like the Chinese base in Argentina (38.1914°S, 70.1495°W).
