I’ve been using a Stagg X by Fellow for a while. I absolutely loved the design and how tough the elements are (and by that I mean the one stainless steel part haha).

Today while strolling the alleys of Saint Jacobs, Ontario, we found a small coffee shop, a local roaster. The coffee was delicious. As we were leaving, my eyes fell unto this Cafflano thingy…and it was only at $99CAD…couldn’t resist…So I grabbed one.

The nice thing the cafflano is that it includes the grinder. I travelled all over the world with my Stagg X and my Porlex grinder…I used it about 10 times in 60 days…Just not convenient…carrying filters…grinders…mug…Not bad, but definitely not perfect for the traveller on-the-go like me.

So this all-in-one coffee machine includes everything (too bad, not the kettle)! It has a go-to mug, a lid, a ceramic-burr grinder, a mesh cone filter (re-usable).

So far, the only thing that’s a problem is that…well, we can’t figure out how to grind the coffee in a larger ground. It takes 10 minutes for the water to drip down…That’s our fault.

I think the concept is brillant! Even for camping…I mean: This is it: The ultimate all-in-one coffee machine. Made out of plastic and stainless steel. I don’t think the parts will freeze together like a french press when used at forty below (happened to me in the Yukon Territory.)

The mesh filter is a great idea: No more carrying paper filter with me. That’s fine if you are TRULY disciplined, but if you’re like me and unorganized after 2 days of travelling with a backpack, then carrying a porlex grinder + a handle (something that I KEEP misplacing, I know, I’m bad) + Stagg X + paper filter…ouf. That’s starts to be complicated for simple man like me.

I’ll keep you updated after a few months of usage, to see how things are holding up.
