**Why** to travel the world
Much has been written on the HOW-TO, but few lines has been composed on the WHY surrounding it. Travelling the world is the next best thing to your soul: It’s soul crafting at its finest. It is your lifeline amidst the chaos of this psychopathic, despondent empire that is forced down your Soul.
I checked my Instagram this morning: Saw this girl that "quit the 9-to-5 to travel around the world". She wrote a blog post about how to save $100 000 so she could travel for 12 months.
Good for her.
It inspired me to write to you my version of it. First thing first, you don't need a hundred thousand to travel around the world. You don't need $25 000. You don't even need $10k.
What you need is a mindset. That mindset is free, but hard to get. The mindset is build on the premise of "commit first, result later". If you have read Transurfing Reality page, you'll get a better picture of this cosmic principle. It is a law of the universe, nothing short of it. In order to see results, you need to act upon what you think is the next move. The universe will smile back at you.
Look: reality is very weird, and not like what you've been taught all your life. Reality is stranger than fiction. You might not believe me, but that would be shooting yourself in the foot: I gain nothing whether you believe in a natural law or not. I try to be a compassionate human being, I genuinely care about you. I want you to break free from the matrix. I want you to go higher in vibration and make you realize that you are the God of your reality. Traveling around the world isn't only good for your Instagram profile, but for your soul. This is why it matters. Cracks will appear in the foundation of your worldview. Your set of glasses will slowly change, slowly drift into a new paradigm. Commit to your dream and ACT First. 99.999% will tell you the opposite. And look where it got them! Nowhere! Because the masses are addicted to bullshit. They want an excuse to dwell in their own mediocre life. They need you to live a mediocre life so they can justify their mediocre existence. Mediocre has a name and its alias is "not now, later." It is the close cousin of the "one day". I hope that you have a merciless close combat with it and kill it, crush it with all that you've got. One day Will KILL YOU if don't fight it like your life depends on it. One day never appears. "one day, when I'll have more money, I'll travel." Well, one day never comes and so your dreams stay what they always were: dreams.
Don't stay at your shitty job in order to save $25 000. QUIT NOW AND GO TRAVEL, you'll find a way to make money. The internet is full of resources. Nomadic Matt is an awesome blog. Check it out. workaway.info is great too. Buy The Fast Lane Millionaire and Unscripted by MJ Demarco. Read it.
I suggest you to travel meow. Quit everything and go for the hell of it. Challenge yourself and outgrow everybody around us by throwing yourself in the crucible of life. Make your own storm. Die if needed to be. Your ego has to die. You will NEVER BECOME AN ADULT IF YOU DON'T DIE TO YOURSELF. You have to get over your own self in order to save everybody around you. The mature adult has been called to save people around them.
So here is how you could do it.
A flight Vancouver to Singapore is $600CAD. Singapore to Perth is $100CAD. Work if needed in Australia (work visa is $450CAD). Tour Australia as desired, then fly back to Singapore. Fly to Sumatra or Borneo for $200CAD round trip. Live with 20 a day in Malaysia or Indonesia is not far fetched. Fly back to Singapore, take a bus to Kuala Lumpur for $20CAD. Fly KL to Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City for $150CAD.
Explore Thailand (overrated) or Vietnam (underrated).
Kuala Lumpur is a hub for international flight. You can fly to Kathmandu, Nepal, for $300CAD.
Nepal is extremely cheap. Like seriously cheap. You can get by with $10CAD a day for Luxury setup. Stay put for weeks in the Himalayas for pennies a day.
Fly to Germany from KTM and discover Europe, calculate $500CAD. Fly from Paris or any central hub to Cape Town, South Africa. Enjoy South Africa for a while, then fly to Montevideo, Uruguay, for $700CAD. Take a bus to anywhere, either go south to see the Patagonia in Chile, or go up to Brazil and Bolivia. Make it to Colombia. Fly Bogota to Montreal for $400CAD max. Boom. You'll have seen more countries than most people in their entire life. Bolivia is the best secret of South America. It is the cheapest too. Ecuador is awesome and way cheaper than most backpacker will tell you. Brazil is overrated and expensive. I prefer the chilean side of the patagonias.
Total cost of airfare for Canada to Singapore to Australia to Indonesia or Malaysia to Vietnam to Singapore to Nepal to Germany to South Africa to South America to Canada: around $3000CAD. Probably less.
You can find awesome volunteering opportunity among the way and exchange your time for free food and accommodation. Save some money up by working in Chile, Australia, New Zealand.
Life in Canada will cost you more, that's for sure. You can travel around the world for less than $10k.
Use agoda.com to find the cheapest hostel in Asia. Use couchsurfing for free bed. Be willing to eat where the locals eat. It's all the time much better, and always cheaper.
Just bring two pairs of socks, two pants, two shirts, two pair of underwear, two t-shirts, two pair of shoes or flip flop, one swimming costume. Bring a MacBook air or an iPad, your camera (Fuji XE3 with a 35mm f/1.4 is all you need) or a 23mm f/2 or a Fuji X100T or F. Heck, even a Fuji X100s second hand can be found for as low as $500CAD on Kijiji.
A small backpack is all you need. Osprey Talon 44 is the best for traveling. Ultra light, lots of straps to secure your load and ultra light. I bought mine for $200CAD and used it for 100 flights for 30 countries and about 2000 days of abuse: still rocking. My little sister has it now. It's somewhere in Northern Vietnam, getting some more rough time.
You don't need solar panel. You don't need anything fancy. Get the best quality rather than cheap things. Everything can be found along the way, but remember that two is one and one is none. Buy the best quality headlamp in Canada. Black Diamonds are awesome.
Don't put out traveling because it's too expensive. Start traveling then figure a way to sustain yourself.
Good luck, JP
My morning view. Bako National Park on Borneo, Sarawak, Malaysia.
