Money doesn't buy happiness, but it sure does buy a convertible BMW.
And so I got a mint, never-winter driven BMW E46 325ci 2004 with 116k miles. I’ve been dreaming about owning a BMW convertible ever since I worked with a lady of about 60 years of age. Her dream was to own a convertible BMW – yet, she was not doing it. She was failing at her dream.
I promised myself that I wouldn’t get to 60 years old with something left on my bucket list. As a matter of fact, here I stand at 27 years old with most of my bucket list done once or twice.
First drive report
Wow. This doesn’t drive like a W140 at all. Some of you loved my review on this website. Actually, this is the most seen page on www.themostbeautifulworld.com!
I drove the E46 for 275kms – That’s nothing, really. BUT. It is enough to realize a few things: You don’t need more than 185 horsepower in a BMW straight six to have fun. The engine is so smooth! SO MUCH BETTER than the M104 engine in the W140 S320 or S280 but an order of magnitude. I blame the old 722.16 tranny in the W140 maybe. And also the 2 tons of steel haha.
This E46 has the sport package (sport suspension, ventilated rear and front brakes and other things…). It drives beautifully, like a jet plane on the highway. This is by far the most fun ride I ever had. The direction is precise, the brakes are powerful enough, and the transmission doesn’t hesitated. This car has been babied by the previous owners and it will be taken great care of.
The sound system of the W140 is way better, even if this 325ci has the optional Harman Kardon 12-speakers 320 watts option. It is good and loud: Just not enough bass! It will have to be upgraded.
The seats are comfortable. As much as the W140 one, which is crazy to say.
We are already planning for a big road trip in the USA/Canada at some point in 2019 with it.
Stay tuned for more photos and reviews. It will be stored until summer.
Cheers,
JP
